Wet Distillers

Wet Distillers Grains (WDG) is the milled corn used in ethanol production that is left over after the fermentation and distillation processes are completed. In ethanol production, only the starch of the corn is used, therefore, the remaining fraction is rich in essential nutrients such as protein, fat, minerals, and vitamins. The liquid that WDG is extracted from can be dehydrated to form a syrup called Condensed Distillers Solubles (CDS). CDS can be recombined with WDG, and depending upon the mixture ratio, two additional products result from this process. A mixture containing 30% dry matter is called Wet Distillers Grains with Solubles (WDGS). A mixture containing 50% dry matter is called Modified Distillers Grains with Solubles (MDGS). CDS can also be combined with Dry Distillers Grains (DDG) to form Dry Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS). This product contains 90% dry matter.
