Bunge-Ergon Vickburg | Grains

New Uses for Corn

Bunge-Ergon Vicksburg, a $100 million facility, was built as a joint venture between Ergon, Inc. and Bunge North America. The companies have teamed up to offer resources for the ever-growing fuel crisis faced by the United States. Located on the Mississippi River in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Bunge-Ergon Vicksburg will produce 54 million gallons of ethanol per year and is equipped to produce even more ethanol as the demand increases. Currently over half of the gasoline sold in the United States is blended with ethanol. The facility is the largest plant of its kind in the Southeastern U.S.

Remarkably, the Bunge-Ergon plant produces no waste. In fact, it actually produces a solid by-product, DDGs, a supplement to grain for feeding livestock and poultry. So the plant is able to create a clean energy source for the public, as well as an excellent feedstock and new jobs for the economy—all while having a neutral impact on the environment.
